Spanish Symbols in Windows

You may type the accents and other symbols for Spanish on the computer by using the character map on your word processing program, or by using the following codes on the number pad to the right of the keyboard. 

Be sure that the Num Lock key is depressed first!

 á Alt+160
 é Alt+130
 í Alt+161
 ó Alt+162
 ú Alt+163
 ñ Alt+164
 É Alt+144
 ¿ Alt+168
 ¡ Alt+173

Spanish symbols on a mac

To get accents on the Mac, hold down the Option key, and while holding it down, type the letter e; then release those keys and type the letter that you want the accent to appear on:

 á Opt+e, then a
 é Opt+e, then e
 í Opt+e, then i
 ó Opt+e, then o
 ú Opt+e, then u

For the ñ, hold down the Option key while you type the n; release and type n again.

 ñ  Opt+n, then n

The inverted punctuation marks are achieved as follows:

 ¿  Opt+Shift+?
 ¡  Opt+1
